Our Little Annie

McKenzie is addicted to the movie Annie. Well at least parts of it. She walks around singing "Hard Knock Life" ALL the time. She can even be found on her little hands and knees pretending to scrub the floor as she sings it. She knows every word. The other day I found her talking to a stuff animal, calling it "SAAAAANDY." She was again, copying a scene from the movie. We have always thought (up until now) that she is scared of the Miss Hannigan scenes. Well today in the dressing room at Target, she began pointing her finger and yelling "Get out of bed Mom! I am Miss Hannigan!" "Listen to me OK." "Say Yes Miss Hannigan Mom!" Holy smokes, I was stunned. Everyone in the dressing room was probably getting a kick out of this too. Ahh the joys of having a little dramatic 2 year old. I wonder where she gets it? After all, Annie was my all time favorite movie growing up. I just hope she continues to pretend to be Annie, not Miss Hannigan.

Attitude

Lately, it seems I have had a negative attitude about life and my role etc. I spend a lot of time feeling sorry for myself. My poor husband only hears about how much weight I am gaining, or how tiring it is to be a mom (especially to McKenzie- our crazy kid who goes from 0 to 60 the instant she wakes up). I also complain about how I am sick of being sick, or how I am tired of my church calling, or how much I miss running on my own (without the jogging stroller). Poor me. I know.

I finally had an "ah ha" moment the other day. I think the warmer weather had something to do with it. I know it is elementary and may sound really dumb, but I finally decided that I must change my attitude. When I find myself slipping back into my funk, I remember this feeling and moment when all became clear. Attitude is the way you mentally look at the world around you. It is how you view your environment and your future. So here's to having a positive attitude. I am going to keep chasing the sun.

Picking a New Look

My husband informed me that "we have a PINK blog," the other day. I could tell by the tone of his voice that he wasn't a fan. So it begins...trying to pick a cute new layout. This one seems to be a bit more neutral. This is oh so important I know. Bear with me as we try to find the new look. I am hoping this will spark a desire to be a more devoted blogger, as I am slow these days.

Texas Trip

We just returned from a nice family trip to the great state of Texas. We spent 3 days in Dallas, then rented a car and drove down to Austin. My brother and his family live in a great town just outside of Dallas. Evan and I enjoyed seeing their new home and spending time with them. McKenzie loved being able to play with her two cousins. They have two little beautiful daughters. Family is the best. I wish we could see them more often. We really had a great time relaxing and just talking.

The drive to Austin was only 3 hours. Evan even let me blast some country tunes on the way down! :) I secretly like country and thought it was totally appropriate being in Texas. What a great city Austin is! It is on our list of places we could live (especially since Google has an office there). We drove through neighborhoods, looked at homes, and explored downtown. My Dad, stepmom, and little brother even drove up from San Antonio to meet us for dinner one night. What a fun trip we had! Who knows, maybe we will end up there someday. Although, it would be hard to leave our home state of California. But unless Evan comes up with the next BIG idea in the silicon valley, folks...we are going to have to relocate. It was such a treat to have Evan with us and taking time off of work too!

Here are a few pictures of our fun adventure:Here are the three cousins getting ready for bed.

It's a...

We were lucky that this baby finally uncrossed its legs. We almost had to walk out not knowing! Finally there was a big reveal. So the big news is...we are having a girl! We are thrilled. Bust out the pink blankets again and let the name conversations (arguments with Evan) begin. :)
We can't wait to have her here with us!

Anxiously Awaiting

Being that I am a few days from being half way through my pregnancy, we are VERY anxious to find out the sex. I am not sure how people wait until they give birth. Although, the element of surprise in the delivery room does sound appealing. I am just way to anxious and impatient. (I can hear my mom saying.."yep") So you can imagine how I felt when the radiology department called to postpone our ultra sound apt by 1 week. So the actual apt is tomorrow morning! Just one more day! So check back to see whether Kenzie will have a brother or a sister...

One Lucky Guy

So this week has been a really good one for the hubby. He is currently in Disneyland with all his Google buddies. That's right, Disneyland without the fam. Although he wishes we were there, there is something wrong with this picture. He is currently riding the rides, hanging with Mickey Mouse and the gang, while I am at home with our two year old trying to explain why daddy flew to disneyland without her. :) This is another one of those Google sponsored trips. Food at the park is even free for him! We miss him and can't wait to see what presents he will bring home from the happiest place on earth.

This past weekend we got a new car. Well, Evan got a new car :) It was time to bite the bullet and do it. So he will now be driving a new Scion TC. Pretty fun. Man alive, he better have something REALLY great planned for Valentine's Day.
