Time for Kenzie-isms
The stuff that comes out of this kid's mouth...I'll tell you what.
When talking about my sister's up coming wedding she asked "After the wedding, will you stay to watch Heavenly Father put a baby in Cami's tummy?" Fighting back laughter I replied "uhmmmmm, no honey. Nobody watches him put the baby in the tummy." "Why?" she said, like she always does.
We were shopping at Kohls when out of the blue she yelled "Mom! You are sooooo smart." Nearby shoppers smiled when I said "Thank you McKenzie. Who told you that?" "Grandma Liz," she answered.
Of course.
She was tugging on Evan this morning trying to get him out of bed. The girl wakes up so stinkin' early we can't stand it. "COME ON DAD!" I just kept still with my eyes closed. "You can help a little girl get some cereal and turn on the TV. I know you can." "Just a minute," he said. She stood there for a few seconds looking at his closed eyes. "DAD! This is a long minute!!"
McKenzie loves to have "deep" conversations over lunch or dinner. "Mom, can we talk about something?" "Yep- what do you want to talk about?" "Well did you know that the color gray is just light black? And that black is dark gray?"
Never a dull moment with her!

The Pleasanton Second Ward Earthquake
A magnitude 8.0 earthquake struck an area of Pleasanton on Sunday May 31st at 2pm, just after the Latter Day Saints left church; the worst earthquake since 1989. Though it was predicted by the Bishop of the 2nd ward, folks were still shocked when it ocurred. The truth was exposed. How prepared for an emergency/natural disaster were members of the Pleasanton Second Ward afterall?
The earthquake knocked out power and cut off water supply to every house in the ward including The Millar Family home (the only one affected on their street), and so their homes were dark and without water until 6am the next morning. Injuries in the ward were minimal.
Members of the ward checked in with their "block captains" after the earthquake hit. All families were forced to use water storage, and other means of light and power. It is reported that the children thought it was "fun." "It is like camping," one little 3 year old exclaimed.
The Millar family said that they resorted to using their camping grill to cook dinner that evening. They were unable to watch any television. Their children used stored water to wash their face and brush their teeth before bed. None of them could even flush the toilet. "Good thing we have a few 72 hour kits in place, along with food storage," said the wife, Brooke Millar. "We do however, need quite a bit more water...I am just glad we are ok. But I will definitely be running out next week as soon as the stores open up again to get a barrel for water storage. We have learned our lesson!"
All members of the second ward are grateful to have had this experience. Power and water have been restored to all families in the earthquake zone.
Rumor has it, this was NOT the big one...just preparation for it.
