And the calling is...

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we are all asked to serve in different areas of the church. For the past year and a half, Evan and I have been teaching Sunday School to the 14-15 year olds. I loved it. To be honest, I really loved the team teaching with my husband. I learned so much from him and from the kids! Well, those days are over as of yesterday. I received the dreaded (did I say that out loud?) calling...Nursery. Didn't McKenzie just head off to nursery a few months back you ask? Yep. And I just started to enjoy being spiritually revived at church since I could actually pay attention. Oh boy do I sound ungrateful and unwilling to serve in any capacity. I am not really. Naturally I am a little bummed, but it will turn out ok as long as I do it well. I know there is a reason I am there. Just wish me luck with the two year olds!

Good luck! I have managed to stay out of that calling. Maybe its because they have come by to give it to me and heard me yelling at Elizabeth and thought twice!! I know you will do great!

Christian is envious - that is one of the callings he hopes for. Right now we are teaching Sunbeams. They are fun, but with Isabelle, it's getting more complicated. Good luck and have fun with the kids, they are so cute at that age. In our ward all the Nursery leaders are older, retired couples, but Nathan loves them.

Your blog made me LOL. I share your sentiments about nursery. As of yet, I have not been given that calling. However, I've always felt it would be the one calling that I would accept but have a hard time with. We love the little one's but two hours with ten of them all under 3 is enought to drive anyone crazy. You could ask for a second nursery leader that you trade off with, if even for once a month, that way you get a brake and can attend other classes. I've seen it done in other wards and always thought it was a good idea.

I kind of want to be in the nursery. Maybe it's because I have two kids in there now & I always feel like I should be in there helping. I think the scariest calling for me would be Primary chorister. I would hate that calling. I'm not creative at all & to have to come up with cute ways to teach the songs, would not work for me:)!
Good luck in Nursery. I think you'll do great!
